If anyone asks – I'm totally interested in the upcoming film adaptation of
Tracy Letts' Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play
August: Osage County.
In case anyone out there still wonders why – here's my answer:
Meryl Streep and
Julia Roberts are already on board to star as the leads, and according to the latest reports young British actress
Andrea Riseborough is currently in some serious talks to join the project as well!
John Wells will direct this adaptation which will follow the women of the Weston family whose lives have splintered in many directions until their alcoholic father's disappearance brings them back to their childhood home and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.
As for this great cast, Meryl Streep is on board to play the mother of the family (add – deeply troubled as well!) named Violet, Julia Roberts will play her older daughter Barbara, and Riseborough will reportedly play Streep's youngest daughter Karen.
At the end of this report, let us also mention that August: Osage County will be produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov and Harvey Weinstein, and for more details about this project, make sure you stay tuned!
