Oscar-winner Alexander Payne has a new black-comedy headed to Cannes this year, taking on the black-and-white tale Nebraska. Actually, it's over a decade since he was there with About Schmidt.
Payne's follow up to the Oscar-winning The Descendants will be playing in competition at Cannes and is probably one of the most exciting moments in the festival.
The first clip below gives you a good idea of what to expect from the father-and-son film about a ‘curmudgeonly old drunk (Bruce Bern) who believes he's won a million dollars from a Publisher's Clearing House sweepstakes and drags his son (Will Forte) on a roadtrip to collect the prize.'

In the clip, one of the father's ‘friends' (Stacy Keach) tries to extort some money out of them, and the son ends up learning an ugly truth. Bandage on the top of Woody's head alludes to some sort of mischief earlier in the story.
Payne's Nebraska screens at the festival on May 23rd and is slated for November 22nd, 2013 limited release.
Check out the two-minute excerpt which sees Keach, the antagonist of the film, as she confronts Dern and Forte. The clip features French subtitles.
