Paramount Pictures is financially committed to put into production
Adam Sandler's comedic Western called
Ridiculous 6, which was in development at Sony.
As reported by Kim Masters of
THR, Sony Pictures has been forced to redo deals with its major producers so Sandler is going to be moving to Paramount for his next feature film, set to shoot in April 2013.
The film is likely a parody of John Sturges' iconic tale, The Magnificent Seven, subsequently inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.
He's co-writing the film with his fellow collaborator
Tim Herlihy who penned all Sandler's classics, but the plot details have not yet been confirmed.
No details have emerged on who's directing the western parody or who will co-star.
Sandler recently starred in the highly successful animated feature Hotel Transylvania and will next be seen in Grown Ups 2 opposite Kevin James and Chris Rock.
Ridiculous 6 is already slated to hit theaters during Spring Break Week 2014.
