Adam Sandler has signed on to star in an untitled Warner Bros. rom-com, formerly titled
Blended, and could possibly re-team with his The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates co-star
Drew Barrymore, who has emerged as the frontrunner to play the female lead.
Still untitled project reportedly explores the growing phenomenon of ‘blended families,' following ‘a man and a woman who, after a disastrous first date, get trapped at a family resort with their kids from previous marriages in tow.' The two begin to develop mutual romantic feelings, of course.
Ivan Menchell and
Claire Sera penned the script, already under the search for a director with a May filming start set.
Since Sandler has decided to make this his next project and he's eyeing a small group of actresses,
The Ridiculous 6, a Western comedy Sandler is attached to, will be put on hold for the time being.
The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates were both financial hits as well as it was the comedian's latest film
Just Go with It.
He can next be seen in his first-ever original sequel in this summer's
Grown Ups 2.
