The first trailer and poster for the upcoming indie comedy-drama
Jesus Henry Chris, based on a short that director
Dennis Lee made back in 2003, have debuted online.
The film centers on a child genius who sets out to find his biological father, only to discover the he was the result of a sperm donation.
Toni Collette plays the boy's mother, while
Michael Sheen plays the “father.”
Toni Collette and Michael Sheen are at least generally enjoyable in their projects, and the movie looks like it might have a degree of indie dramedy credence to it, even if it is from the writer/director of the long-delayed flop
Fireflies In The Garden.
Jason Spevack and Samantha Weinstein are also featured in the movie
Here's the synopsis for the film:
Precocious doesn't even begin to describe Henry James Herman, a petri dish child who writes rabble-rousing manifestos on the nature of truth… at age 10. This boy-genius misfit's world turns upside down when–to the dismay of the doting single mother who raised him–he embarks on a search for his biological father.
Jesus Henry Chris will be released to theaters on April 20th, 2012.
