Blake Lively has been cast to play opposite
Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan in the upcoming film, “
Green Lantern.”
She will be the leading lady in the highly-anticipated DC Comic's superhero movie which is a Warner Bros. project.
Lively will play Carol Ferris, who runs her father's aerospace company that hires Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), a test pilot who later becomes her love interest and the intergalactic policeman known as the Green Lantern.
“Green Lantern,” which will be directed by
Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale,” “GoldenEye,” “The Legend of Zorro”), is scheduled to be filmed in Louisiana in March and hit the big screens by June 17, 2011.
22-year-old Lively (“Gossip Girl,” “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,” “New York, I Love You”) reportedly beat out
Eva Green, Keri Russell, Diane Kruger and
Jennifer Garner for the “Green Lantern” role.
